Genesee Residence

This passive solar residence has provided over two decades of comfortable living for a family of four.  Carved into a south facing hill, the plan is organized around a gentle arc of glass in the central living room.  A sculptural two-way fireplace captures the sweep of glass as the full length window seat flows into the fireplace hearth.  The large windows are equipped with a layered, roll-up night insulation system that substantially reduces heat loss.  Destratification fans collect upper level heat and distribute it to the lower level recreation room.
