AWARD WINNERS

The first annual COBRA Awards (Colorado's Best in Residential Architecture), cosponsored by COLORADO HOMES & LIFESTYLES MAGAZINE and the Denver Chapter of the AlA, were presented to the winners at a reception held at the AlA offices in Denver The first-place Honor Award went to Sears Barrett Architects Inc., Denver, for a new,single-family residence on 15 acres in Evergreen.The Marcel Brener-inspired exterior is a cluster of low-lying sheds designed to withstand the blinding sun and high winds prevalent at the cleared, 8000-foot elevation. The clients' goals, superbly achieved,were to create a contemporary design that was spare and ordered, yet filled with warmth and sunlight, while capturing the sweeping views.
