II. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:

    March 1982 to present
    Principal, Sears Barrett Architects, P.C, Denver, Colorado
    Responsibilities: Principal of an architectural firm specializing in elegant, energy-conscious design for residential and light-commercial buildings. Emphasis on design excellence, refined interior finish, client interaction and site integration. Sears Barrett Architects, P.C.  is a seven-person architectural firm that grew out of an earlier firm named Equinox Design Group. To date, more than 200 residences have been designed by the firm, primarily in Colorado.

    December 1980 to March 1982
    Research architect and program manager, Solar Energy Research Institute, U.S. Department of Energy, Golden, Colorado
    Responsibilities: Originate, develop, and manage research projects on passive solar applications to residential construction. Program management required time line and budget reporting to the U.S. Department of Energy in addition to supervision of research team members. Duties included conceptualizing research programs and presenting research results at conferences and technical meetings. Other responsibilities involved design and editing of publications that communicated solar research findings to non-technical professionals.

    April 1980 to December 1980
    Job captain, SLP Architects and Planners, Denver, Colorado.
    Responsibilities: Lead architect for team-based production of design development and construction documents. Participated in commercial projects ranging from a 26-story, inner-city residential tower at Denver Place, to Aurora Commons, a suburban business and professional office complex.

    May 1977 to April 1980
    Architect and contractor, Shelterform Design and Construction, Denver, Colorado
    Responsibilities: Manager and architect for design/building firm specializing in custom-designed, earth-integrated, passive solar residences. Projects included speculative ventures as well as custom design for individuals. Consulting services on cost effective construction methods were provided to contractors, developers and private parties.

    August 1975 to May 1977
    Program coordinator, Denver Free University , Denver, Colorado
    Responsibilities: Direct the educational program of the nation's largest, alternative, community-based learning exchange. Responsible for all matters pertaining to faculty recruitment, counseling, development of new course areas, and scheduling of more than 250 teachers. Shared duties included formulation of goals and policy, overall management and budget decisions, and public relations.

    June 1974 to July 1975
    Team coordinator and architectural designer, Center for Community Design, University of Colorado at Denver, Denver, Colorado
    Responsibilities: Coordinate the advocacy design activities of a team composed of architects, planners and a community developer. Typical projects included: (1) programming or renovation of community based facilities; (2) documentation of citizen needs for new programs and improved facilities; (3) architectural analysis of existing facilities and preparation of multi-media presentations representing community concerns. Primary focus was on providing architectural support to the East Side Health Board in its successful drive to gain political support and funding for the $5 million East Side Health Center (constructed 1977).
